The clouds have opened at Hidden Valley Raceway in the Northern Territory at this weekend’s second round of the Viking Group Australian Superbike Championship, a heavy shower of rain coming down directly following the opening Supersport race of the weekend.
With humidity high and a wet track surface, the Superstock 600s are out on track, the first casualty of the conditions being Aaron Morris as he crashed his Yamaha on the opening lap of the race.
With the Superbikes up next it has caused a hive of activity in the pits, with teams rushing to fit wet weather tyres and converting their machines to wet settings as the race is set to run in just 15 minutes time.
Apart from showers on Thursday, official practice is yet to be completed in the wet weather conditions this weekend, making for a wide-open first race this afternoon.
At 12:15 local time, the rain has stopped, with the possibility of drying out for this afternoon’s action.
