Honda Australia will once again be supporting the Young Farmer Challenge (YFC) at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show.
YFC is an initiative developed by the Show’s Youth Group, and has been designed to showcase the involvement of youth (aged 16-35) in agriculture and to promote excellence in farming through an entertaining audience event.
The event is made up of a series of individual challenges with a link to working life on the farm.
These challenges include the use of All Terrain Vehicles to simulate daily and more complicated tasks required to run a property.
Honda will be providing four TRX ATV’s, as well as helmets and wheel braces for competitors to use during the competition.
“We’re really pleased to be able to get involved with this event,” said Honda Australia’s general manager Tony Hinton. “There are many young people today forging a career on properties and farms in Australia’s rural regions. To be able to allow them to practice in real-world scenarios is a fantastic way to help with their future prospects.”
“It will also be a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase to the general public what our ATVs are capable of under timed conditions.”
The 2010 Easter Show will be held from Thursday, 1 April to Wednesday, 14 April at Sydney Showgrounds, Olympic Park.
The Young Farmer Challenge will take place on Saturday, 10 April with up to 100,000 people expected to attend. Morning heats will be held in the Schmidt Arena with the Grand Final to be held in the Main Showground Arena in the afternoon.
