RT Motorsports has expanded its racing team by contracting the 19-year old talented Victorian Jed Metcher to contest the IDM German and ONK Dutch Superbike Championships for this season.
Metcher will race in the IDM and ONK Superbike Championships on CBR1000RR Fireblades for the RT Motorsports team, prepared by SKM Motorradtechnik in Germany.
“A great opportunity is offered to me by the RT Motorsports team,” Metcher said. “I hardly can wait for joining the team and to race in Europe. My hometown is not far from Phillip Island and I’ll spend a lot of time on this track to prepare myself optimal for the coming season.
“A big challenge is waiting for me – I’m going to race in a whole new continent for me with all new racetracks. However, the feeling is good and more now that I know to be contracted by one of the top teams from Holland.”
Metcher will join the RT Motorsports team after impressing in Australian Supersport last season, also enjoying a successful career in 125cc Grand Prix previously.
“We had contact with several Australian riders who were interested to race for us,” team manager Rob Vennegoor said after campaigning Gareth Jones last season. “Especially after the title in last season some of them were really interested to join our team.
“I think we have chosen now one of the best – Jed will be able to develop himself with the support of our team to a professional rider and to make a great career here in Europe.”
The team will have its first test of 2010 with Metcher at the end of next month in Metcher’s debut, before the Easter Races at Assen in Holland will see his race debut.
