General: Reed and Stoner in Top 10 BRW Sports Earners

Australia’s most recent motorcycle world champions Chad Reed and Casey Stoner have ranked in the Top 10 for Business Review Weekly magazine’s Top 50 Sports Earners of 2009. Reed ranks fifth at $8.8 million for the year, while Stoner is eighth at $5 million in 2009.

Australia’s most recent motorcycle world champions Chad Reed and Casey Stoner have ranked in the Top 10 for Business Review Weekly magazine’s Top 50 Sports Earners of 2009.

Former double World and AMA Supercross Champion Reed, who is the current AMA Motocross and Australasian Super X Champion, has been ranked fifth in the annual Top 50 list, earning $8.8 million last season.

Reed’s position sees him drop two positions from third to fifth for the year in the list topped by Greg Norman at $15 million, while NBA basketball player Andrew Bogut, soccer star Harry Kewel and Formula 1 ace Mark Webber also earned more than Reed last year.

2008 MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner moved into the top 10 in the eighth position after earning $5 million last year, despite sitting out a total of three races due to health problems mid-season

Stoner came in narrowly behind American-based NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose, who also debuted in the top 10 of the BRW list for this season.
