Australian Anthony West has been credited with the fastest lap once again on the second day of Moto2 testing in Spain, albeit riding an MZ-badged ex-Stiggy Racing Honda CBR600RR World Supersport bike.
West has been fastest on both days of testing so far, extended to a third for extra testing time on Friday, setting a best lap of 1:37.4 during Thursday’s unofficial outing with the WSBK teams.
The fastest actual Moto2 rider on hand was ex-250GP and WSBK rider Roberto Rolfo, riding the Suter to a 1:37.7, well over a second off the pace of Ten Kate Honda WSS rider Kenan Sofuoglu’s 1:36.1 set today.
Spaniard Julian Simon was third fastest for Team Aspar utilising a BQR chassis, although both he and teammate Mike di Meglio also tested the Kalex chassis of Team Pons according to Moto Matters.
Di Meglio was fourth fastest after completing much of the day on a Yamaha Supersport bike, while Axel Pons was the fifth fastest just ahead of Tech 3’s Raffaele de Rosa.
