Rockstar Motul Suzuki star Matt Moss isn’t giving up hope of making the opening round of the 2010 AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, series despite suffering a broken back in Brisbane last Saturday night.
The 21-year-old reigning Pro Lites Super X and MX Nationals champion was working his way through the field after an opening lap crash in the second final of the Triple Challenge format, but then crashed out of the race in the closing laps through the whoops in slippery conditions due to a downpour of rain directly before the Open class main event.
Moss suffered a double compression fracture of the T5 vertebra in the fall according to Suzuki, but is determined to make the start gates with Roger DeCoster’s Rockstar Makita Suzuki team for Anaheim’s season opener on 9 January if his injuries permit him to do so.
It was a devastating end to a spectacular night of racing for Moss, proving he has the pace to run with the best in the world by finishing second behind championship winner Chad Reed in the opening race after slicing his way through the world class field.
MotoOnline.com.au wishes Mossy a speedy recovery and looks forward to watching him achieve his goals in the U.S. next year.
