Two legends of Australian Motocross, Troy Carroll and Cameron Taylor, bowed out in style after Brisbane’s final round of Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, last Saturday night.

The meeting marked the end to the pair’s stellar careers that have spanned over 20 years in the sport, with both Carroll and Taylor closing the final chapters of their tales with crowd-pleasing burnouts in front of the main grandstands.

Local favourite Carroll wrapped up his racing career with 12th overall on the night and 11th in the final championship standings on his Cool Air Kawasaki team, set to manage the team fulltime next season as it takes on the role of the factory effort for Team Green.

SP Motorsports Byrners Suzuki rider Taylor finished ninth in the Triple Challenge format in Brisbane, securing eighth in the championship points overall in what was his final national title run.

Global Action Sports awarded Carroll with a massive plaque filled with number plates from various eras of his career in the pre-race ceremonies.

Carroll won his first senior national in the 1996 Australian 125cc Supercross Championship, going on to take out a total of 12 championships in the senior ranks – adding them to his 12 junior championships he earnt previously in his career.

For Taylor, his lone national championship was secured in 1993 as the Australian 125cc Motocross Champion, also securing various state titles over the years.

Both riders have also represented Australia at the Motocross des Nations event.
