Motorcycling Australia (MA) is pleased to announce that the purchase of McAdam Park, Barrabool was settled on 30 November 2009.

Speaking about the purchase, MA’s CEO, David White wished to acknowledge the vital contributions from a number of groups that made the acquisition of McAdam Park possible.

“I’m pleased to announce the purchase of McAdam Park, Barrabool was finalised on 30 November 2009,” White said.

“I’d like to acknowledge the assistance from the Victorian State Government, and the Surf Coast Shire Council in making this possible, including particular thanks to the Minister for Sport, the Hon James Merlino, and Member for South Barwon, Michael Crutchfield.

“Unfortunately funding arrangements have not been finalised with the City of Greater Geelong however negotiations are continuing and hopefully will be concluded shortly.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the Barwon Recreational Motorcycle Council, the Sporting Motor Cycle Club, the Geelong Motocross Club, and the Otway Trail Riders for their ongoing efforts in securing the future of this facility.

“This is a very exciting time for motorcycle sport in the region and with the purchase now completed we are looking forward to engaging with the broader community regarding the future development of the venue, not only for motorcycling, but also use by other community groups.

“We acknowledge that some residents are concerned regarding our purchase of this land and a concerted effort was made to prevent this sale from proceeding, however, we would like to assure these residents that we are a responsible national sporting organisation.

“We are recognised by the Australian Sports Commission, and an affiliated member of the World Governing Body Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (International Motorcycling Federation) and we are committed to developing and running this property in a responsible and engaging manner.”
