HONDA AUSTRALIA:
Team CJC’s Craig Coxhell finished the 2009 Australian Superbike season strongly in sixth place at today’s Phillip Island round, coming into the final meet with the Privateer’s Cup in hand after an unbeatable performance on his Honda CBR1000RR all year.
Coxhell who fronted fresh off his 6 Hour win at Oran Park, put in a highly impressive first year as a Privateer, often clocking times significantly faster than the factory riders in the field.
At the Island’s V8 Support races back in October, Coxhell was so fast that his time – along with fellow Honda riders Glenn Allerton and Wayne Maxwell – would have put him well inside the top 10 in the MotoGP field.
“Craig is a very worthy winner of the Cup as far as we are concerned,” said Honda Australia’s General Manager, Motorcycles, Tony Hinton.
“He has continually placed the CBR1000RR in the top ten, and the top five later in the season, which is a huge testament to his talent and the performance of the bike.”
“Honda riders have been putting the CBR on the podium all year both here in Australia as well as overseas in all kinds of crazy conditions. It is a wonderful verification of the durability and performance level of this machine.”
“We congratulate Craig and his Team including Chief Engineer Geoff Winzer on their achievement and wish them all the best for the 2010 season.”
