YAMAHA RACING:

After last week’s bitter-sweet victory which brought the nation to its knees, Yamaha Racing’s Jay Marmont will return to the gate at the fifth round of the 2009 Monster Energy Super X series at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday November 14, 2009.

Just days after the passing of his daughter, Lila, Marmont took victory at Canberra Stadium after taking the holeshot in each of the evening’s three races. The result means the Wollongong-based rider is now second in the championship point score with just one point separating him from the series lead.

After missing his first Pro Lites podium since joining the 2009 Monster Energy Super X series, American Kyle Cunningham is hoping to return to form and claim the valuable championship positions which were lost last weekend.

The fifth round of the 2009 Monster Energy Super X series will feature the Survival format with the Pro Lites to contest a traditional 15 lap final. The purpose built 483 metre track has been deigned as a high speed circuit and will feature 23 jumps.

With two round victories to his name, CDR Rockstar Yamaha rider, Jay Marmont is now focused on becoming the first man in the 2009 Monster Energy Super X series to record two consecutive round victories.

After one of the most difficult weeks of his life, Marmont took victory in Canberra last weekend and dedicated the win to his daughter, Lila.

This weekend the series heads to Parramatta Stadium where Marmont believes he can continue the momentum of last weekend’s event to claim the championship lead.

“Last weekend was tough but I was just focused on the end result and I felt as though Lila was there with me throughout it all,” Marmont said.

“There is now just one point separating myself and Dan Reardon and this weekend I want to get to the top of the podium again and take the series lead.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Australian public and motocross community for their support over the last week,” Marmont concluded.

After struggling to find form over the opening four rounds of the 2009 Monster Energy Super X series, Cheyne Boyd has worked with his team during the week and is hoping for record his first supercross podium finish for the year in Parramatta.

Pro Lites Report

After a disastrous fourth round of the 2009 Monster Energy Super X series, Serco Yamaha rider, Kyle Cunningham is hoping to return to the podium with a victory on Saturday night in Parramatta.

Cunningham who finished third in the opening three rounds of the championship said he has maintained the same training program in the lead up to the event.

“I’ve just been doing what I’ve always been doing. This race I really want to get a great start and then see what I can do from there,” Cunningham said.

“Following the round, I’ll probably return home to America for a week and do some riding as the Pro Lites don’t race at the sixth round of the series in New Zealand.”

Cunningham’s team-mate, Kirk Gibbs has had a disrupted lead up to this weekend’s event, with the YZ250F rider receiving limited time on the bike this week as he recovers from a knee injury resulting from a fall in Canberra.

“My knee swelled up after Canberra and I’ve been in and out of physio working on it throughout the week,” Gibbs said, “I think it will be ok for Parramatta, in fact I’m 90% sure I will be right to compete as it was just a little crash where I landed on it [knee] a bit funny.”
