JDR MOTORSPORTS:

Following a stella debut year in the MX Nationals, MXRAD-supported JDR Motorsports team were always going to be a dark horse coming into the 2009 Monster Energy Super X series.

Leading into the series however, the team suffered a big set back, with Andrew McFarlane having an accident whilst training for Super X and injuring himself – forcing him out of the opening two rounds.

So as the 2009 instalment got underway in Tasmania, it was left to Ryan Marmont and Josh Cachia to fly the flag in the Pro Lites class, while Beau Ralston was the man to do the job in the pro open class – however, Ralston’s first Super X campaign came to an end quicker than expected.

After impressing early in qualifying, Ralston crashed on lap one of his heat and was forced to the last chance qualifier, alongside the like of Chad Reed. With only four laps to get out front, Beau couldn’t not match the top two and missed out on a spot in the final.

In the Pro Lites, all the focus was on a few MX front runners, as Ryan Marmont flew under the radar. Qualifying in third spot, eyes began to focus on ‘Doggie’ as the boy went to the final. With two finals deciding the event, Marmont lapped in the top three overall times to claim to third place finishes in the final, finishing round one of the series in second place behind, Matt Moss.

Josh Cachia looked right at home in the Pro Lites class and made a good impression finishing inside the top-ten in final number one. However, a bit of bad luck saw Cachia miss out on points in final number two, finishing 14 overall on the night.

“Obviously we would have loved to have Andrew riding, but we have to make sure that he does what is needed to come back 100%. That aside, we are really stoked with how the whole weekend turned out. Ryan [Marmont] has emerged as the dark-horse of this series and it was a statement about his trainingand commitment that he came out and one a serious contender for the win. Everyone was questioning Ryan coming into the round and he has done the team proud,” said JDR Team Manager, Jay Rynenberg.

The team is now more focused than ever for Geelong and we’ll go into round two full of confidence and give 100% for our sponsors and fans,” added Rynenberg.

Round two of the Monster Energy Super X rolls into Geelong for round two of the series on Saturday, October 24.
