Former AMA West Coast Lites Supercross Champion Jason Lawrence has been sentenced to 365 days in jail after reportedly biting off part of friend Ryan McGriddle’s ear.
J-Law appeared in court yesterday and was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, the Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy Racing Yamaha team owner and rider now serving his time in the Southwest Detention Centre, although two days have been removed for time served.
Lawrence has been involved in a number of scandalous off-track incidents throughout the years since turning professional, but his undeniable talent has pulled him through to impressive results, including the 2008 Supercross crown.
It is unknown if the 22-year-old will return to competition following his year in jail, although his absence from the final round of the Motocross championship can be excused just days out from his sentencing.
