The final round of this year’s Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship will be a standalone round with all classes at Phillip Island in Victoria on the weekend of 28-29 November.
News first broke of the round’s confirmation at this week’s Eastern Creek ASBK test, with International Entertainment Group Director Yarrive Konsky confirming the news yesterday evening.
But the date available for the final round has sparked controversy, slotting in one week following the Oran Park 6-Hour Production Motorcycle Race, which could potentially rule out the vast majority of ASBK factory and privateer teams who had earlier shown interest in what will be the final motorcycle race ever held at Oran Park.
Phillip Island will be visited three times for this season and a fourth visit is also on the cards if a Superbike-only round at the V8 Supercar event in September is finalised by IEG.
The final round of the series marks the only round that will feature all of the ASBK classes at the Island though, with the series visiting the grand prix circuit for the first time in a number of years as a standalone event.
