Woodstock Honda Thor Racing:

The Woodstock Honda Thor team is set to compete in the 6th round of the Australian Motocross Championship this coming weekend in Western Australia.

After a successful finish to last week’s round in South Australia the team is confident of a repeat performance in the deep sand of Wanneroo.

“We haven’t rested on our laurels,” Team Owner Yarrive Konsky said. “The team has been testing during the week in deep sandy conditions and is confident going into this weekend.”

Pro Open rider Brent Landman has been busily training for this event with long time friend Cheyne Boyd.

“Boyd and I have been riding and training together in the deep sand on a track that is as rough as Wanneroo will get. Although the intensity of racing differs slightly, I feel prepared and ready for this weekend.”

The team’s new recruit Josh Hansen has been testing and training all week and feels more composed and adjusted to the time and conditions.

“I am feeling a little more acclimatized; the weather here is freezing compared to back home and I was feeling jet lagged last week. The team hasn’t stopped helping me adjust and they have made some major changes to the bike to suit my riding style. I am not going to suggest that I am fully fit for motocross, but I am getting better each time I ride. This is definitely going to help me going into Super-X.”

Part time motocross racer Peter Boyle is also looking to improve on his previous 7th place and hopes to make amends on his ¾ race fatigue.

“I am just not used to going flat-out like that for 30 minutes. In the bush we time ourselves; patience is a virtue. Out here against these guys you can’t afford to be patient and I am just
not used to the intensity.”

The team’s Pro Lite hopes rest on the shoulders of Dean Ferris who only returned to racing after a serious injury took him out for 3 months. Dean rode cleverly to finish a creditable 6th
overall last week on his return to racing, and is hoping to improve on that this coming weekend.

“I felt I could go faster last week, but knew that I had to finish both races in an effort to build some confidence and race stamina. I have had another hard week of training and feel confident I can improve on last week’s results. There is a sandy track near home that I have been punishing myself on.”

The sixth round of the 2009 Australian Motocross Championship will be held at AJS Motocross Club on 21 June 2009. AJS Motocross club is located north of Perth on Wattle Avenue East.
