Australian Motocross teams, riders and fans are in mourning today after the death of one of the sport’s brightest identities in Bronte Holland today, the former professional racer passing away at just 21 years of age early this morning.

News broke late yesterday that the Victorian had suffered a stroke, remaining on life support in order to donate his organs, before he passed away just after midnight with family and friends by his side.

The news has come as a devastating shock for the motorcycle fraternity, with Holland pushing through life since a training accident in February 2007 left him paralysed from the chest down after breaking the C7 vertebrae in his neck.

Holland began racing at just five years old, going on to be a factor on the national circuit after winning many state titles, completing a season with the factory Motorex KTM team in 2006 before joining the Team 07 Yamaha outfit for 2007.

Since his accident Holland has formed a career in the media with race commentary duties, DVD presenting, and magazine work with Stroke, as well as recently launching his own coaching clinics.
