From the opening round of the Australian Pro Lites Motocross Championship at Albury (NSW) on 5 April, up to the fourth round at Mackay (QLD) on 24 May, the speed and battle between front runners Matt Moss (Suzuki), and Luke George (Kawasaki) has been intense.  The two are placed first and second respectively in the Australian Championship, with Motorex KTM young gun, Tye Simmonds keeping them honest in third.

The pace is expected to increase again for round five at Murray Bridge in SA on June 14, when Tye’s Motorex KTM team mate, Kade Mosig rejoins the Pro Lites Championship.

Renowned as one of the fastest Pro Lites racers in the competition, Mosig was taken out at the opening round, breaking his hand on a barrier leaning onto the track.  The damage saw Mosig undergo surgery to have his knuckles pinned together, and he has since undergone intense physio to gain full movement back.

For the past three weeks Mosig has been back on the KTM 250 SX-F testing for his return to the Australian Motocross Championship, and is already cutting lap times comparable to the elite Pro Lite riders.

Mosig comments, “I can’t wait to get back into the competition.  It’s been hell watching from the sideline, and hearing about all the news from mates.  The accident hasn’t brought me down, it’s only made me stronger in the head, making me even more determined to get out there and win.

“I’m really happy with my speed, but my weakness will come in maintaining a fast pace for the two entire 20 minute motos, because I have been off the bike for so long my endurance fitness is not yet back up to where I was before the accident.  I also still feel a bit of pain landing bigger jumps, but hopefully adrenaline will kick in and numb the pain.

“Matt Moss and Luke George are definitely going to be pushing harder this weekend because it’s not only me returning to challenge them, but also Dean Ferris (Honda), he was also a tough competitor before an elbow injury took him out of the race.

“My game plan for Murray Bridge is to get good starts and mix it up with these guys to measure where I’m at with my return to racing, and hopefully bring home a podium result.”

While Mosig has been planning his return to racing, Tye Simmonds has been battling it out with Matt Moss in Western Australia at the Manjimup 15000 where the two went head to head in the Pro Class Race on board their 450 machines, and then went one-on-one in a shoot out competition.  The result saw Simmonds win the shoot out with Moss in second, and Moss win the Pro Class with Simmonds in second.

Motorex KTM Racing’s Under 19s class entrant Jason Reed, has also been training with the Pro Lites guys in a move to gain more speed for his Championship entry.  Reed has been training with Luke George at their home tracks near Newcastle, and also with Tye Simmonds at his home track in Bourke.  Reed currently sits seventh in the Under 19s Championship.
