Road Race Performance Academy press release:
The tight and technical Oran Park Circuit in New South Wales will be the venue for the next Road Race Performance Academy rider training program, run by former international road racer and renowned magazine test rider Alex Gobert.
Gobert’s RRPA program will visit Oran Park on Saturday 20 June, hosting the event on the South Circuit in what is believed to be the historic racing facility’s final full year of operation before it is closed to make way for a housing estate sometime in 2010.
The Oran Park venue has glowing memories for Gobert, winning a state championship event there in his racing career and also being the final circuit that he competed on in the Australian Superbike Championship before embarking on a career overseas in the United States.
RRPA continues to excel in its quest to assist riders of all ability levels to become safer, more confident, and faster, working with many different riders including everybody from professional racers to L-Plate street riders who are looking to expand on their knowledge and understanding of motorcycle riding.
Oran Park’s school will feature national level racers and experienced coaches, with current Australian Superbike Champion Glenn Allerton, former Superbike and Supersport Champion Adam ‘Krusty’ Fergusson, former Supersport Champion Shannon Johnson, and national level racers Jordan Burgess and Jason Kain just a few of the coaches who assist at selected RRPA events.
Participants in the full programs will undergo classroom theory sessions where they’ll learn invaluable techniques that will include preparation, cornering, body position, braking, throttle control, shifting, visual awareness and much more.
Personalised feedback to each individual is shared as RRPA’s dedicated group of coaches ride on track with each group, providing influential feedback for your particular riding style at the completion of each and every session.
Participants will be able to take part in the Level 1 or Level 2 full programs (classroom theory and on-track sessions) for $295.00, while a Development Group session is offered at $145.00 for those who want to have limited time with the coaches while getting in a full day of seat time.
The RRPA program prices include a 10 page course information booklet designed for participants to use as a refresher the next time you ride at the track or on the road – the book features a detailed outline of the techniques taught on the day.
Drinks and light snacks including fruit will be available throughout the day and are included in the entry fee, while merchandise will be for sale for those who want to take home memories of their day at RRPA.
Entry forms and further information regarding the course are available on RRPA’s official website at www.rrpa.com.au.
ALEX GOBERT:
“Oran Park is the local event for RRPA and is a circuit that I find is perfect for coaching both riders who are looking to improve on the track and for riders who are hoping to learn more to be safer for the roads in the real world. It may not be up to the standards of some of the newer circuits, but the tight and technical nature of Oran Park allows riders to really experiment with each technique that we are teaching.
“I also believe that the South Circuit is actually better for coaching because of the flow of the first few corners on it, and being a bit shorter it actually allows our coaches on track to keep a close eye on everybody without being too spread out.
“Being a weekend it seems that this event is already beginning to sell out quickly since we only allow for extremely low numbers in each group, so riders who are intending to come out to this one better log onto our website and get your entries sorted so you don’t miss out. See you all there!”
