IEG press release:
Honda have once again shown the importance of supporting junior racing talent in Australia by supporting the establishment of the Honda Red Riders 150cc class National Cup.
Designed as an affordable, entry level category, the Red Riders Cup will give up and coming racers the chance to start their career in a National Series, without the financial strain or time commitments of the larger categories.
With cost and rider friendliness in mind, it was an easy choice to use the Honda CBR150 for the series. Fitted with a double-overhead camshaft, 4 valve, 150cc 4-stroke engine a 6-speed gearbox, fibreglass bodywork and telescopic forks, the bikes are not too distant from their bigger Superstock brothers and are the perfect tool for any junior wanting to launch their racing career. Better still is they’re available for $6990 at selected Honda Dealers around Australia.
Riders will also receive profiling on a personalized Red Riders National Cup website as well as coverage on national television.
As a further incentive, and to assist families with much needed support to attend each round, Honda is providing bonus fuel cards to the top three place-getters. Fuel cards in the amount of $250 will go to 1st pace, with $150 awarded for 2nd and $100 for 3rd.
The 4 round series will commence at QLD Raceway May 29-31. Entries will be available by next Friday (April 10th).
International Entertainment Group’s Director Yarrive Konsky encourages junior national racing and appreciates the support Honda is providing young riders on their quest to stardom.
“The Red Riders National Cup is a fantastic category and Honda should be applauded for their commitment to making junior road racing affordable and accessible. With the low costs of participating and exposure they will receive through the ASBK, I can only hope the popularity of junior road racing skyrockets”.
“This series will produce the Champions of tomorrow and it is imperative for the future of our sport in Australia that these riders have a chance to race in a bona-fide national series” said Konsky.
The first round of the Red Riders Junior Cup will kick off at Round 3 of the Australian Superbike Championship on May 29th-31st.
